Garrett Wilson injury updates: Jets WR avoids knee surgery, per report

Garrett Wilson, the wide receiver for the New York Jets, will be out more time this season due to his second knee problem. ESPN reported that the star wideout will miss three to four weeks due to a sprained knee, which he suffered during Sunday’s victory over the Cleveland Browns. Wilson’s absence is expected to be at least three weeks. He will not need surgery and will therefore likely return before the regular-season ends. The Jets player missed their Week 7 and week 8 games because of a hyperextended left knee. He then returned to the field after the Jets team’s Bye Week. Wilson was forced to leave the game during the second half of Sunday’s game. Wilson limped from the field following an attempt to dive catch. Aaron Glenn confirmed that Wilson had suffered another knee injury after the win. The Jets’ passing attack was quiet on the whole. Justin Fields, the Jets’ quarterback, completed six passes totaling 54 yards. All but 12 yards were accounted for by a single pass to running back Breece hall.

Wilson’s injury occurs at a bad time for the Jets. They are experiencing momentum for the very first time in this season. New York’s 0-7 record has been reversed after winning its last two games. It did this in two different ways, relying heavily on its offense to win a shootout 39-38 with the Cincinnati Bengals while relying heavily on its defense to win a battle 27-20 with the Browns. The multiple absences are likely to prevent Wilson from achieving the 1,000-yard threshold this season. It would be the first occasion in his four-year career as a professional that Wilson has not reached that milestone. However, his four touchdowns are the second most of his career.

Wilson will be in the Jets’ lineup against the Miami Dolphins on December 7 if he misses only three games. After a four-game absence, Wilson will be back in the lineup for the Jets’ Dec. 7 matchup with Miami Dolphins.
