Jerry Jones says Cowboys have trade in place before the deadline — who’s it for?

ARLINGTON (Texas) — Can the Dallas Cowboys (3-4-1 ) pull off a deal or two before Tuesday’s deadline of 4 p.m. After facing the Arizona Cardinals on Monday night, there is only a few hours left before the ET deadline. Football According to Jerry Jones, owner and general manger, there is a yes. He announced Monday morning that several deals are being worked on — less than three month after Dallas traded Micah Parsons, a wide receiver for the Green Bay Packers in exchange for two first round picks and Kenny Clark before the start of the 2025 NFL season.Jones told SiriusXM via The Athletic that the deal would bring Parsons to the field immediately and address our weaknesses. If the Cowboys make another trade, the new player will get a full week of acclimatization during the Cowboys’ Week 10 off. Any move will be directed at the defense. Dallas averages the NFL’s second most points per game (30.8), but allows the second most (31.3). The Cowboys have become only the fourth team to ever score 30+ points per game while allowing 30+ through eight games. All three previous teams failed to win a single playoff game. No team has ever reached the playoffs while allowing 30 or more goals per game.

Jones may be looking to make a move. The following are six possible defensive trades for Dallas. These include the three targets that NFL insider Jordan Schultz reported: Cincinnati Bengals’ edge rusher Trey Hendrickson and Bengals’ linebacker Logan Wilson, as well as Miami Dolphins’ edge rusher Bradley Chubb.

Bengals season likely over with Joe Burrow’s turf toe injury and a 3-6 record. Cincinnati has balked at giving the NFL’s 2024 leader in sacks, Trey Hendrickson, a multi-year extension the past two offseasons. It would be best to sell now before he is able to hit free agency once again. Dallas’ defense is in a mess without Parsons. Trading for Hendrickson who will turn 31 on December 5, and whose contract expires, should fall within Jones’ comfort zone for most of his deadline trades.

Logan Wilson is just two years into a four-year, $36 million contract extension, but his playing time has declined the past few weeks with the struggling Bengals going with a youth movement at the position with rookies Barrett Carter and Demetrius Knight Jr. Wilson is under contract the next two seasons with cap hits just under $10 million, and he would be a noticeable upgrade over Kenneth Murray and Jack Sanborn in Dallas.

South Beach is in the midst of a fire sale after the Dolphins fired their general manager Chris Grier. Miami, which had a 2-7 record to date, traded Jaelan Philips to the Philadelphia Eagles Monday morning. Bradley Chubb, the 29-year-old edge rusher and two-time Pro Bowler from the Dolphins who are undergoing a rebuilding process, could be next. Chubb missed 2024 due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament, but this season his 4.0 sacks led Miami and tied him for 27th place in the NFL. Miami is likely to ask Dallas to pay a part of Chubb’s contract, as he has a cap hit of over $31 million for 2026-2027.

Dallas was the league’s best in this department from 2021-2024, when Parsons played. The team quarterback pressure rate was 40.2%. It’s now hovering around league average in that department at 38.1%, which ranks 14th in the league. If Jones is determined to make a move, the Cowboys should go get 29-year-old edge rusher Arden Key to bolster their pass rush, given that Key has 1.5 sacks while playing for Tennessee — a team that already fired its head coach — this season. Dallas has the eighth-lowest number of sacks in the NFL with 15 sacks. It needs more juice at the edge-rusher position opposite second-round rookie Donovan Ezeiruaku, who has come on of late.

Despite being 36, two-time The following are some of the best ways to get in touch with each other Bowl linebacker Demario Davis can still be a plus starter in 2025. He would be an upgrade over Jack Sanborn, whom the Cowboys placed on injured reserve Monday.

Pro Football Focus rates Davis among the NFL’s top 10 inside linebackers for this season. His defensive grade overall (78.4) places him ninth, while his run-defense score (89.2) places him sixth. TruMedia reports that Davis’ 61 tackles in designed rushing plays is the most of any NFL linebacker. This would be a great boost for a Cowboys’ defense that is ranked 30th in the NFL (146.0 rushing yard allowed per game).

Cowboys Pro Bowl cornerback Trevon Diggs (knee/concussion) is on injured reserve, as is third-round rookie Shavon Revel (knee). Dallas’ pass defense ranks 30th (258.6 yards allowed per game), and it could use help.If the Saints plan to let soon-to-be 27-year-old cornerback Alontae Taylor walk in free agency after a 1-8 start under new coach Kellen Moore, they may as well get a pick for him. Moore’s relationship with Cowboys owner Jerry Jones may help to facilitate a deal. This is especially true for Dallas teams looking to add a cheap player.
