Amad celebrates his equaliser in the match against Nottingham Forest (Image: AFP via Getty Images). Nottingham Forest came close to beating Manchester United with a quickfire double to start the second half. City Amad volleyed home an incredible equaliser. Ruben Amorim will welcome the point, even though United would have been second with a victory. Morgan Gibbs White scored in three minutes and Nicolo savona within the same time frame to turn the match on its head. Casemiro’s goal at the half had put United ahead. Amad, however, hacked the ball over Matz-Sels from the edge the box. The goal was allowed after a check by VAR. Casemiro had been given freedom of the field earlier. City Ground was able to head a Bruno Fernandes corner kick into the bottom right-hand corner. Forest continued to create, despite United’s attempts to level the score. Bruno Fernandes shot against the underside of the goalpost as United tried their best. Igor Jesus missed a 3-1 goal with 25 minutes left and that may have been too much to overcome for the visitors. Ruben amorim’s squad went into this game looking to win their fourth consecutive match and began on the offensive. Benjamin Sesko, who has not yet found his top gear after his summer move, had an early chance to score – but his shot was deflected away from the goal. He also showed some good hold-up in the early knockings. They also blew a great opportunity when Nicolo savona got free down the left but misplaced the ball. United were still impressive in flashes, and Amad deflected shot forced Matz Sels to make a sharp save. Forest showed the fight that they’ll need to survive. Here are the Mirror’s match reports. FootballTalking points from the City Ground.1. Forest’s corner curse persistsLast week, Forest conceded to Bournemouth after a corner that they didn’t think should have been awarded. It was a repeat of last week’s events, but not as clearly. Forest’s corner kick should have been able to get closer to Casemiro, as Tavernier’s attempt at the Vitality Stadium was. Sean Dyche’s team is not known for their set piece fragility, so he will be frustrated. Amad’s goal was a beautyAmad won’t score many more goals like the one he scored on Saturday. Sels was powerless to stop the Ivorian from slipping the ball into the net. Forest’s complaint is about the previous play. Forest will complain about the previous goal. Amad isn’t going to mind. It could be a crucial moment for Amad and his team. Savona redeems himselfForest players celebrating Savona goal(Image:PA)If Savona let that corner drama in first half stew, he soon got over it. Forest players were often lost during Ange postecoglou’s tenure. They looked unable to unite and formed a united front. The Italian was just one of many players that looked unsure of what their role was during the period. Murillo, Nikola Milenkovic and others may be the obvious winners but they are not. Amorim unchanged for the last timeRuben Amorim in Nottingham Forest vs Manchester United (Image: PA).It took a whole year but Ruben Amorim has finally named an unchanged Manchester United team in the Premier League. He may feel that he does not have enough players to execute his system but at least 11 are willing to be trusted to do so in consecutive matches. Casemiro scored again and was given another chance to start. Amorim uses him, even if he is not performing at the level of his Real Madrid or first United season.“I think he gives a lot of experience. He’s an example for everyone,” Amorim recently said of Casemiro. “In the beginning, he was behind every midfielder, even Toby [Collyer], but he fought and he worked, and now he’s back in the national team. He’s so important for us.”5. Lammens as cool as cucumberSenne Lammens, with his Manchester United team mates (Image: Manchester United via Getty Imag). There were moments in the opening half where Senne Lammens got the closest a goalkeeper gets to a hospital ball. He calmly handled the ball as if nothing had happened. For the rest of the first-half, he remained composed and did not appear to have been able to do much about Forest’s goals. It’s clear that he was unruffled. United were reluctant to start the Belgian immediately after his arrival. They were concerned about overexposing him to pressure. On the evidence of today, however, he is exactly what’s needed.6. It’s a long seasonIt seems like we get a new assessment every few weeks or months of Manchester United’s position on the scale from ‘it’s over’ to “we’re back”. We can even see variations in a single game. Today felt like one of these days. There’s still a lot of football to be played. For both United, and Forest there is a long road ahead. This is much easier said than achieved, but any boss who is able to achieve this is on the right path. Football.
