Sidney Crosby’s Pittsburgh Penguins had another great night on Monday. In addition to leading the Penguins to their fifth win in their last six games, Crosby made NHL history by becoming the ninth player to register 1,700 career points and is the fourth-fastest player to reach that number. Crosby is the fourth fastest player to reach 1,700 career points. Only Wayne Gretzky and Mario Lemieux, a Penguins legend, have reached this milestone faster than Crosby. Crosby also surpassed Jaromir Jagr who scored his 1,700th point of his career in his 1,408th match. Crosby is only the fourth person to have 1,700 points for one team. He scored three points Monday in the 6-3 win against the St. Louis Blues. He recorded two assists prior to scoring his seventh season goal early in the 3rd period.

Crosby, 38, also broke franchise records by surpassing Lemieux in terms of the number of multi-point games played. Crosby played his 498th multiple-point game on Monday.
Crosby’s not the only Penguins veteran enjoying a successful start to 2025-26. Evgeni, who made history recently with Crosby, Letang, and other American sports legends by becoming the longest serving teammates in American history, leads the NHL currently with 13 assists, and is tied with the league leader with 16 points. Malkin, who is 39 years old, scored a goal and had an assist as the Penguins improved their record to 7-2-1.

Malkin and Crosby were two key players in the Penguins’ surprising success during this season. Pittsburgh’s 10-game record is its best since the 2014-15 campaign, led by Dan Muse as first-year coach. The Penguins hope to reach the playoffs in the end for the first since 2021-22.
