This year the Premier League is unable to meet their contractual obligations. They must have 33 weekends and 5 midweek fixtures. Premier League officials are forced to take a detour on Boxing Day, according to the Times. The FA Cup is taking up more weekends after the scrapping of replays. Premier League will need to use December 27-28 to fulfill its obligations. West Ham against Fulham, Crystal Palace against Tottenham, Manchester United and Newcastle, Nottingham Forest and Manchester CitySheffield Wednesday is being targeted by “four or five” serious bidders, according to the timetable for the sale. This year’s December 26th will mark the lowest number of top-flight matches since the Second World War. Eight matches were played in 2024. The dates and time of this year’s fixtures have not been finalised. Clubs are usually notified at least six week in advance about agreed fixture dates.
