Wise weekly wagers … what would an NFL bettor want worse? The NFL season is in full swing, and bettors are eager to place their weekly wagers. This is where I come into play. Welcome to Week 9 of Will’s wagers. This page could contain affiliate links for legal sports betting partners. RAVENS @ DOLPHINSOver 50,5 combined points scoredAfter last week’s controversy about who would be the starting quarterback for the Ravens, it seems that we have some clarity now as to whether Lamar Jackson is indeed returning on Thursday night. Expect the Ravens, with Jackson back in place, to score at least 30 points against this Dolphins’ bottom-tier defense. Defensively, the Ravens are still a mess. You can expect a lot of points from this game. VIKINGS @ LIONSJ.J. McCarthy Under 30.5 passes attempts The Vikings will also be getting their quarterback back in this week. It will be McCarthy’s third career start. In his two first games, McCarthy threw 21 and 20 passes. This is a sign that the Vikings are easing McCarthy into the game by relying on the running attack. If they’re going to beat the high-powered Lions, they likely can’t win a shootout. Under on McCarthy’s tosses. FALCONS at PATRIOTSFalcons+5.5In the NFL no one is as good or as bad as they appear in a particular week. The Falcons better hope this belief is true as they were humiliated at home by the Dolphins last week. The Patriots are destined to make a comeback in the playoffs. However, five of their six victories have been against the Browns. Titans. Dolphins. Panthers. and Saints. I believe we will see a tight game in this desperate Falcons’ comeback. CHARGERS vs TITANSChargers +9.5 Why overthink it? Titans lose every week. They are also routinely blown off the field. Tennessee is 4-21 in the past 2024 against the spread. Let’s hope it goes to 4-22 after this week.COLTS @ STEELERSColts team total Over 26.5The Colts are No. According to TruMedia Sports, the Colts are No. 1 in the NFL for explosive plays (a 12+ run or 16+ pass). Steelers allow the third most of these plays. It’s not the Steelers defense that was so lauded in years past. BRONCOS @ TEXANSFirst Quarter Under 7.5 points combinedTwo teams that are better at defense than offense. Both teams rank in the top 5 in terms of yards per play and game points. I think we get a field-position, low-scoring game, especially early on.PANTHERS @ PACKERSPackers -2.5 first quarter The Packers have started with the ball in five of their seven games so far this year, and often choose to take the ball first when winning the coin toss. The Panthers have deferred every time they’ve won the toss. I’ll take the team that is likely to have the ball to win the quarter. The Giants’ rookie quarterback Jaxson dart is the team’s future, but he continues to lose his weapons. He will now face the well-respected 49ers defense coordinator Robert Saleh. BEARS @ BENGALSBears Team Total Over 27.5Last Sunday, the Jets, who had one of the worst offenses ever, beat the Bengals 39-38 in Cincinnati. Although the Bears’ offense has been inconsistent, they averaged a solid six yards per game in last week’s loss to the Ravens. The Bengals can’t stop anyone. The Bears will score many points. SAINTS @ RAMSSaints total under 14.5 The Saints will start rookie quarterback Tyler Shough, who is making his first career appearance. Shough will have to learn a lot, and it’ll be hard to score more than two touchdowns against the Rams who are rested and good on defense. Hunter’s opportunities will continue to grow since the team made a number of trades to get him drafted. His last game may be a good indicator of how he will be used in the future. CHIEFS vs BILLSPatrick Mahomes More than 25.5 rushing yds. The Chiefs have a lot of weapons now that Rashee and Xavier Worthy are back. They’ve opened up the field, which has allowed Mahomes more space to run. Mahomes’ last four games have seen him average 42.5 rushing yard and go Over this total in all four. Mahomes ran for two touchdowns and 42 yards in the AFC Championship game last year against the Bills. Look for more of the same Sunday.SEAHAWKS @ COMMANDERSOver 3.5 total field goals madeField goals have been plentiful in Seahawks’ games, as this is an angle that has been kind to us so far this year. The Seahawks, while there’s some randomness in play, have a great kicker in Jason Myers and arguably the best red-zone defense of the NFL. Myers made three field goal attempts in two of the games he played this year. He has also made multiple field-goals in five out of seven of his games. Let’s root for kicks!CARDINALS @ COWBOYSOver 54.5 combined points scoredAt the risk of being overly simplistic, 80, 59, 57, 66, and 68 total points have been tallied the last five times the Cowboys have taken the field. A combination of a top-notch offense and a defense who can’t stop anyone is the recipe for an Overs. It’s hard for the sportsbooks to make the totals high enough. Will Hill, a contributor on the Bear Bets Podcast, has been betting on sports for over a decade.
