Tru Media reports that Henry McKenna NFL reporter J.J. McCarthy ranks 851st among 852 quarterbacks for EPA per Dropback (amongst qualified passers) in the last decade. Who are 852? Justin Jefferson has averaged 53 yards a game in six games under McCarthy. Jefferson averaged 99 yards per contest with Kirk Cousins and 90 yards with Sam Darnold. McCarthy has had four games with two interceptions and thrown 10 interceptions in six starts. To some degree, he’s lucky he hasn’t thrown more. He had 12 turnovers-worthy plays in that span. If a quarterback spiked the football every play, then his passer rating would be 39.5. It is the second time in this season that he has had a passer score below 39.6 (out of six starts).
