    2025 Heisman Watch: Ohio State QB Julian Sayin Climbs the Leaderboard


    This weekend, the Heisman Trophy race continued to shape up. Ohio State quarterback Julian Sayin claimed the top spot after another stellar performance, with former front-runner Fernando Mendoza right behind him.Here’s a look at our 2025 Heisman Watch following the 10th full Saturday of the season. Sayin’s performance against the Nittanylions was impressive, as he completed 87% (20-of-23) of his passes for 316 yard and four touchdowns. He boasts an 80.7 completion percentage on the season — and they aren’t all checkdowns. Sayin scored a 45-yard touchdown on WR Carnell TATE in the Buckeyes’ win against Michigan State. He also gained 57 yards. Indiana QB Fernando Mendoza had 24 touchdown passes as of Week 10. Mendoza, the Hoosiers and the second-ranked team also remain undefeated for the season after a 55-10 win over Maryland on Saturday. Mendoza completed 14-of-21 passes for 201 yard, one touchdown, and one interception. He added 24 rushing yardage and a touchdown on the ground. Mendoza is averaging a 72.3 percent completion rate on the season. He has 2,124 passing yards and 25 touchdowns. Alabama QB Ty Simpson is averaging 2,184 yards per throw, with 20 touchdowns. Simpson’s 253-yard throw and two touchdowns last week in a tight victory over South Carolina was a record. The Tide won their fourth straight game against an AP Top 25 team. Simpson has thrown for 2,184 yard and 20 touchdowns with just one interception. He’s completed 67.8% passes this season. He has also added 79 yards and two touchdowns rushing on the ground. Alabama will host LSU on Saturday. Texas A&M QB Marcel Reed has thrown for 1,972 yards and 17 touchdowns, adding 349 yards on the ground. Reed and the Aggies, ranked third in the nation, were on bye week during Week 10. Reed threw two touchdowns and 202 yard in Week 10’s 49-25 win against then-No. 20 LSU. This season, the sophomore quarterback is 61.4% accurate with 1,972 yardage and 17 touchdowns. The sophomore quarterback has also rushed for 349 yards and scored six touchdowns.
